Dr. Abe was a pioneer in using Surgical Guides to place implants in 1993. He realized that diagnosing implant placement in 3-D was not adequate unless there was a way to accurately transfer the treatment plan to the mouth. Some surgeons may occasionally use 3-D x-rays to diagnosis implant placement but if they do not transfer that plan to the mouth utilizing an accurate Surgical Guide they are still "estimating" implant placement which increases the chance of complications or problems. Dr. Abe has been placing virtually all implants utilizing accurate surgical guides for the last 25 years. Now he has incorporated the use of the new technology of 3-D printing to further control the placement and accuracy of implant placement. Now implants are being placed in a completely 3-D digital environment from impressions to planning to surgical guides and guided implant placement. The surgical guides are printed utilizing as state of the art rapid 3-D printer which allows Dr. Abe to completely control the digital environment from beginning to end.
